5 FREE Holiday Activities for Kids

For those days when the kids’ cabin fever kicks in, here are some FREE activities & destinations around Cape Town!

Green Point Urban Park for their play area!

The park opens at 7h00 and closes at 19h00 daily. It is open every day, but some rules are in place to protect everyone's safety! Rules include:

  • Dogs are allowed, but need to be on a leash and to be picked up after.
  • Camping, bathing, fires, braais, overnight sleeping, loud music, flower picking and alcohol is not permitted
  • Children must at all times be supervised, especially on the walkways adjacent to the water features
  • Picnics are permitted but skateboarding and swimming are prohibited

The Company Gardens for the squirrels

The Company’s Garden is home to a surprising amount of critters. There are the famous squirrels, who you can purchase bags of nuts to feed. There are pigeons, Egyptian geese and there is even an aviary where dozens of species of birds can be viewed. Your kids will love feeding the squirrels, who come up close for a treat! Opening hours: April to August: 07:00 – 18:00

The Sea Point Promenade with their scooters / bicycles

The Sea Point Promenade is a kids wonderland! The kids can take their scooters, bicycles or skate boards and enjoy some fresh air along the ocean. There are also numerous kids play areas and outdoor gyms, as well as steps leading down to the beach. Pack a picnic and even take your pooches!

Our Blue Route Mall for those rainy days & free WiFi

Our mall is perfect for those cozy, winter days. We have various restaurants and coffee shops in our mall. Age-appropriate, you can leave the kids with their devices in our food court while you get some much-needed shopping or admin done! We offer FREE WIFI too!

Tokai or Newlands Forest for a picnic & some exploring

Both Tokai and Newlands forest have beautiful walking trails to take your kids exploring. You can also pack a picnic and take the pooches along to enjoy a full day in the fresh air. Both forests have streams, lakes and dams which the kids might love splashing around in on warmer days. The perfect locations for some wholesome, healthy family fun!
